The Jing Yuan Charity Foundation, the Chow Tai Fook Medical Foundation, and philanthropist Mrs May Tam Mak Mei Yin have jointly funded the “The ECCF Charitable Cataract Surgery Program” . This initiative aims to provide free cataract surgeries for low-income individuals, including Cataract surgery with a single-focus intraocular lens and three follow-up visits after surgery. The program is expected to benefit approximately 200 to 400 eligible individuals, helping to restore vision for over 400 eyes.
Program Details:
– One pre-operative examination and intraocular lens measurement
– Cataract surgery with a single-focus intraocular lens (monofocal)
– A set of postoperative anti-inflammatory eye drops
– Three follow-up visits after surgery
Target Audience:
– Volunteer ophthalmologists regularly offer eye screening services across various
districts to identify patients with eye diseases.
– Volunteer ophthalmologists regularly visit the partnering institution, “CareAge Health Centre,” to diagnose patients within the community.
– Eligible patients referred by ophthalmologists.
Eligibility Criteria:
– Patients who are suitable for surgery under local anesthesia.
– Low-income individuals currently receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance or Old Age Living Allowance, and have been assessed and recommended by our volunteer doctors and registered social workers.
– All applicants must sign a consent form to participate in the program.

– Eligible applicants should call 2330 6722 to pre-register with the designated review agency, “Sham Shui Po CareAge Health Centre of Community CareAge Foundation,” and complete the application procedures.
